hello all:
wondering if there is anything within the mpeg1 spec that would allow for encoding in b&w? hoping to save the bits used to encode b&w source into a color representation of b&wfigure those bits could be better used improving the quality of the video.
i don't see anything to allow for this in tmpgenc, i'm assuming it isn't the encoder, but rather not something allowed for in mpeg1?

Drat, I searched archives for "black and white" not "b&w". Searcing like this, I now see a relevant post. The poster suggested going to color correction and turning chroma setting to -255. Would this render the image in true black and white? And, if so, will it be saving bits which would translate into better quality video?
