I installed the latest xvid codec and videos that used to play fine will play back but have a popping sound in the audio. Yes I know I should have left well enough alone. Everything I did wouldnt fix the problem until I renamed the xvid.ax file. Now the sound plays fine. I take it this is an audio decoder. Do I really need it for anything. Is there some other way to fix this problem?
Lastly, I've read about xvid playback filters but how in the world do you find them or get to them?
I want to play back an avi in windows media player (XP) and would like to be able to increase the brightness.
