  1. Has anybody created a movie on a DVD-RAM and then played it in a player that is compatible with DVD-RAM?

This seems to be fairly uncommon; I can't find anything in the FAQs about it.

I've got a Panasonic recorder for my TV, and a Panasonic burner for my computer. They both deal with DVD-RAM; I think I just need to know the process and/or the software.

    Thanks!

  2. I've been able to determine this much: my Panasonic DMR-E20 needs the DVD-RAM to be formatte as UDF 2.0.

I'm able to format discs on my computer with that file system.

Now the question is: how and where to I place .bup, .ifo and .vob files on the DVD-RAM so that the Panasonic player can play the movie?

    Thanks.

Yes it would be nice to know. I have a RAM drive in my 'puter, and have been waiting to buy one of the Panasonic players that will handle RAM disks. Could it be so simple as to make your movie, and then in authoring, make the DVD folders, and then just drop the audio/video_ts folders onto the root of your RAM disk? Or do they have to be the .vro files that the camera uses?
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  4. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. That was the first thing I tried.

I can copy the files onto the disc, but when I throw it in my player, it essentially treats it like it were blank.

I've found some docs on the web that indicate both ordering and physical position of the files on the disc are paramount for success.

I think I'm getting closer, but I'm not there yet....

  5. Finally found a way to do this. Use Nero to burn the DVD. You can download a demo that will work from this site:

    http://www.nero.com/en/index.html#download

It's about $50 to buy the program. I have burned three movies on one DVD-Ram and it works very well.

    FINALLY!!

  6. I just drop the video_ts folder in the root of the udf2 formated dvdram disc. But then I don't have a standalone that supports ram I just do it on ram in rare circumstances that I try something off the wall and wanna test it before wasting an -R disc. It plays back fine this way on the pc, but like I said I ain't tried it on a stand alone cause my standalone don't use ram, but it do like my -R's thank God.
