  1. I have a W2K machine on which I convert from DV-AVI to MPEG2 using TMPGENC. Since it is a 1 hr movie I made several smaller AVIs so I can make changes without having to renders too long again.
Then I encode to MPEG2 for DVD using TMPGENC, I get no encoding errors or the like.
After that I join all the MPEGs using TMPGENCs MPEG tools.
When playing each AVI they all fade to black as they were made but when encoded to MPEG2 they and joined to one big file they end 1..3 seconds before the fade out and the next clip begins. About 6 out of 10 clips simply stop.
Could it be that the MPEG read codec on my system is out of date or something like that ?
How can I tell which MPEG2 codec is in use and how could I try another ?

Thanks for any hints or other isdeas hat's going on here.
