I hope that somebody can help me

I am trying to create a Harry Potter DVD in DVD Maestro (in fact I have had this problem with each DVD I create in this program) I import all the assets, the video files, the Audio files etc. etc.

When I import the subtitles for that Harry Potter release, which I previously converted to .son format, I notice that if I compile my DVD they begin to loose sync gradually, at the end of the movie it becomes a 2 seconds out of sync.

I've compared the times in the .son subtitles with my original video file, and there's no problem, it seems that when DVD Maestro imports the .m2v file it changes the lenght and times of it

Has somebody solves this problem?? Please help me!

You are importing the original pulldowned M2V/AC3 files, adding chapters, then removing the M2V file and replacing it with the dropdown M2V, and THEN importing subtitles, right???

You need to go to DOOM9.ORG and read the DVD-5 to DVD-9 guide (cached here: http://216.239.33.100/search?q=cache:razz:57pstzBh6wC:www.doom9.org/mpg/maestro2.htm+d...hl=en&ie=UTF-8). DOOM9.ORG has been flakey lately, but here's the relevant parts. I do not know how this relates if you are using TMPGEnc:

    =============================================
Next, you will need to perform a “pulldown” on the resulting video file. I found it easiest just to drop the “pulldown.exe” file into my “Windows” directory since there is already a system path to it. This way, you can access the command from any directory prompt. You will need to create two files. I will explain later why. First, use the following command line:

    Pulldown project.mpv output.m2v –prog_frames p

    then use this one…

    Pulldown project.mpv output-drop.m2v –prog_frames p –drop_frame true

You will now have a “output.m2v” file and a “output-drop.m2v” file that can be imported into Maestro.

    Finally! Authoring!

This is really just an intermediate step. We’re not worried about creating a menu, etc. because we just want to reincorporate our project into the original file structure. Change the default “4:3” setting in Maestro to “16:9 PS/LB”. Import all of your media assets into Maestro. Place the “output.m2v” video file on the timeline and your audio file. Next, right-click in the chapter section of the timeline and import your *.CHP chapter list you made earlier.

Once the chapters have been imported, REMOVE the video from the timeline and replace it with the “output-drop.m2v” file. This will allow for proper subtitle import. You MUST NOT import the subtitles when the other video file is on the timeline! They will NEVER be in sync if you do, even if you replace the file with the “output-drop.m2v” file later. You MUST place the “output-drop.m2v” file on the timeline BEFORE importing the subtitles. Right-click on the subtitle line and import your *.SON subtitle file you created earlier.

  5. I followed that exact guide a couple of weeks ago on Attack of the Clones, and my subtitles were STILL out of sync by about a second or so. Anybody know any reason as to why? I definitely made sure I ran those exact two pulldown commands, and I DEFINITELY made sure I deleted that first pulldown AFTER adding the chapters, then I added the DROP.pulldown file and THEN added subtitles. One thing to note though is that I did get some type of "ASSET OVERLAPPING" error message when I added those subtitles into that movie. Maestro imported all 1300+ subtitles, but I got an asset overlapping error and clicked on the subtitles and saw what appeared to be duplicate subtitles. So I deleted the duplicated in red and it looked like it was fine. When I burned the disk, my subtitles were out of sync by about a second or so. I'm not sure what caused the Asset Overlap error, but I don't even think that is why my subs were still out of sync because I had read about a week ago or so, that another poster followed the same guide and their subs were still out of sync also as well. Anybody know any reason as to why? Thanks in advance

  6. Hmm, same problem here... only I was working with Hollow Man and I didn't have to compress the video at all so I was working with the original m2v and ac3 files and my subtitles still became more and more out-of-sync as the movie progressed??? I don't get it

Make your video file and your subtitle timings "drop frame" and they should sync up.

  10. Let me see if I have this correct:

Import "all" of your assets into maestro including both your original video and you "drop frame" video.....

    1. Drag and drop your original video
    2. Drag and drop your audio
    3. Import your chapters
    4. Delete your original video from the timeline
    5. Drag and drop your "drop frame" video
    6. Import your subtitles
    7. do the extra's setup color, etc...
    8. Then compile with the "drop frame" video

    Is this correct?

B0n3$h@k3r, hopefully someone will answer that last post of yours regarding whether or not you "complie" with the drop.pulldown file. I did everything you did, and figured that I should compile with the DROP file, and when it did, the subs were still out of sync.

  12. Hmm, well I did it the way I mentioned above and finally got them synced.... but then I noticed that they are not all there??? Wha I tried re-ripping them and it is still only giving me 633 images maestro imports all of them but that's only half of the movie..... any ideas?... I stripped them with subrip.

Hey guest?? How far out of sync are your subs?

  13. !!! Update !!!

I got it! the key is to re-rip from the "original" DVD the subtitles again, by themselves, and leave them in .vob format. Then use Subrip to pull the images and follow the guide above and all should be well!
