  1. I've downloaded two ac3-files which I suddenly can't play or convert with TMPGenc. Suddenly meaning that I always could before. In TMPEGenc I'm told the audio is not supported or not recognized. When I want to play the files Mediaplayer either crashes instantly or gives me the following error message:

    AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.4487 ModName: iviaudio.ax
    ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 0001190d

I have divx 3,4,5 installed and an ac3 decoder that includes iviaudio.ax
I also had the Nimo Codec package installed (V5 build8) but I uninstalled it when I downloaded another codec package called OdioDec1.23. With the Odio thing I could get the files to play but only without sound.

Now I tried to reinstall Nimo but I can't anymore because I'm getting trouble with a Winsystem.dll file. If I ignore the problem nothing at all plays.
Then I tried to install the Divx Total package which then isn't compatible with the Windows XP logo (damn XP anyway). When I install nonetheless nothing changes, I can still play every file except the ac3 ones.

Does anyone have any idea what I could do? Is there sense in converting the ac3 to mp2, or will it not change the problem?

you are in codec hell ...

if it was me i would spend the time and remove them all and make they are all unreg also .. you can use http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/dxman.htm for this ..

then install powerdvd and see king johns codec guide .. .. remeber you don't need to install a ton of codecs and in most cases even a package like nemo has more than what you need ..

  3. Thanks! I was wondering if everything got uninstalled correctly, sometimes it didn't seem like it.

Can I find King John's codec guide here or somewhere else?

Edited to say: I do have PowerDVD but it's the same problem as in MediaPlayer
