  1. When I try to convert an avi file to mpeg2 ntsc dvd with the wizard it creates an m2v video file and a wav file. When I tried without using the wizard it told me I needed dvd player software so I downloaded Windvd. So I got it to work after an initial problem(without the wizard though) but how can I get it to work using the wizard?

  2. the .m2v and .wav file is the video and audio that is not Multiplexed.
Above these buttons Setting, Load, and Save is Stream type options:

    ES (Video only)
    ES (Audio only)
    ES (Video+Audio)
    System (Video only)
    System (Video+Audio)

Placing the mouse cursor over these will show some information about them.
System will produce the multiplexed file. ES provides the audio and video as separate files. Sometimes separating the video and audio is desired i.e. you already encoded the audio but not the video.

For example video.m2v and audio.wav can be multiplexed using the MPEG Tools... The MPEG Tools can be found by clicking on File then click on MPEG Tools which is right above Exit. If you have TMPGEnc open you could just press Alt+f+t if you do not want to use your mouse. You would want Simple Multiplex, or Multiplex. Just type the location in the box for the input files, or just press the browse button. Name the output file to what you desire.

  3. Oh OK. So the wizard is using the ES (Video+Audio) stream setting(I guess) for some reason. So how do I change that setting so the wizard uses the system stream (video+audio)?

I don't even need to use the damn wizard if someone can tell me how to batch encode without using the wizard. I can't figure it out(I'm stupid).

  4. I would suggest this for not using the Wizard.

    Start up TMPGEnc.
When the Wizard appears click on Cancel.
Below the Stream Types is three buttons choose the button labeled Load, and click on it.
In the Open box find the folder called Extra.
If you can not find the folder named Extra then change the Look in: box to the folder in which TMGEnc is installed.
Once inside the TMPGEnc folder locate the Template folder and click on it.
While inside the Template folder, click on the folder called Extra.
While inside the Extra folder, click on the file labeled unlock.
Under Stream Types select the desired setting. In you case I would select System (Video+Audio)
Clicking on the button labeled Setting will allow you to make you changes for encoding.
To the left at the bottom is "Video source:", "Audio source:", and "Output file name:" Key in or browse for the appropriate files for the Video and Audio source. Choose the desired file name for the Output file name.
When you are ready to begin the encoding, click on the button labeled Start. Make sure you have plenty of space for the new file being encoded, or the encoding will fail. Once the encoding is done you can view you new *.mpg file.
