NO, they are .sup files for use in ifoedit.
what you need is .son files for maestro.
try using subrip to get them.

i am using maestro and subrip, but i get a really strange and annoying error, i import the subrip file to maestro, but it doesnt get rigth, i just get 24 subs, when there should be over 500 of em, and they aint in the rigth place either. I checked the *.son file, and it lookes rigth, and all the bmp files lookes rigth too. But if i take show all subs in maestro i can see that its totaly screwed.

i had that once.
now i dont know if it will sort it out but it did for me but i only had about 30 subs.
what i did was start again with maestro, add the video then ac3 then i added the chapters with chapterxtractor which i didnt do before and when i added the subs it accepted them all.

that didnt help, but i found the problem, i had to change the time under wall clock in maestro to 00:00:00:00 =)
