  1. Hey, i have bad frames in downloaded divx file, and was informed that i need to recompress the divx file to remove these bad frames. anyone know how to do this, or how to fix my bad frames problem, as TMPGEnc crashes when encoding it, the audio carries on, but the video freezes. cheers for any help

No u dont have to recompress it but you will need to delete these badframes and resync the sound, go to:

  4. ok my file had 2 .avi files, the first was corrected relatively easily, but the second disc has lots of bad frames, and if i deleted these, a good 2 sec chunk would be missing, so does anyone know how to correct bad frames? is that possible? cheers for any help

I've never tried this so I don't know if it will work (I'll try it next time I've got a corrupt section):

you might try saving out a small selection containing the corrupt portion as a small avi then run it through divfix (rebuild index) to see if it fixes the data. If it does then append it back into movie.

I've always just deleted the corrupt data myself
you know it's the anti-Midas touch when all you touch goes to shit..............

Bad frames are junk, there is nothing there that can be fixed, green colours artefacts etc.. Nothing you can do but delete them. Sometimes the frames have been added during download deleting them will return the movie to normal
