  1. i want to cut an avi file with virtual dub and i want to be very precise. i choose a "mark in" and a mark out, when i play my selection in a player, i can see that the mark in is not the one i've chosen (about one or two seconds before). is virtual not precise enough ? how could i do to get a good result ?
    thanks...

The only thing I can think of is if the movie doesn't have many key frames or no key frames, the program could take a long time to find the the spot you want to edit and it's possible that you're cutting in a different place than you think you are.
I never search backwards in this kind of movie. I always search forward, one frame at a time and when I get to the frame (or frames) I want to cut, I press the in and the out markers and delete the frame. By setting the in marker and moving forward, one frame at a time, you will be certain only to delete the frames you want.
If you're not satisfied with the way the cut looks, you could save in two parts and use an editor with transition filters to blend the different scenes together.
