  1. I cant seem to play any DivX and Xvid movies using windows media player (6,8,9), PowerDVD, Zoom Player and probably many more players. But when i try with BSPlayer 0.86, it works! I also installed Nimo Codec Pack too. I used Gspot 2.1 to identify the codec and it says i have them all installed. Someone please help.

  2. I had the same problem. Try unistalling all codecs you have got on just now. Now install the following codecs individually a) divx 3.11 b) divx4.12
    c) divx 5.02 pro bundle. This should allow your divX files to play. To play Xvids install a) Xvid MPEG-4 codec & b) AC3 Filter 0 63b. The above worked for me and i'm no expert.

Let me know how you got on.................

  4. I just found out i cant play SVCD either. But i can play DVDs off my Sony 16x DVD drive still. Everything was working fine with my old comp, but with my new computer all the additional codecs i try to install dont work.

  5. What exactly do you mean by doesn't play? Does the player crash?

The AC3 filter is not for xvid btw, it's for AC3 (doh)

Most problems I've seen were related to mmswitch.ax that crashed the players. Unregister it if it's there and see if it fixes the problem. You can also try (from a clean install) to do a CUSTOM install of the nimo codec pack.

As i said i'm no expert, but the only time i had problems with sound was with an Xvid, following advice from this forum i installed the ac3 filter, voila it worked.................. We're only trying to help each other sarcasm is not really called for "crack".

  8. Wow, i uninstalled and deleted mmswitch.ax for AC3 and now it works! But a lot of DivX movies use AC3 codecs so i cant hear sounds now, what should i do?

  9. mmswitch.ax (morgan stream switcher) does that once in a while. Just install the AC3 filter and everything should work fine. No need for the stream switcher, unless you have multiple audio in your files.

"crack" eh? xvid is a mpeg4 codec, and it will decode xvid encoded video. Your file obviously had AC3 audio, and that fixed it, it has NOTHING to do with it was encoded in xvid. the AC3 filter is for AC3 audio. I wasn't being sarcastic. Also, I think I was helpful as it solved his problem.
