  1. Hi,
I just used TMPGenc to convert a dat file to an mpg using the info on the corresponding page of your site (very useful by the way).
I now have an mpg file but cannot open it in windows media player.
Is there another step that I need to take before I am able to play the movie in the mpg format?

    Cheers,
    Jon

  2. Sorry, it wasn't tmpgenc, it was VCDgear gui.
I got confused because of all the editing I'm doing.
    Please help me out. J

  3. Why not just rename it to filename.mpg?

I have never had any probs with just changing the file name. I know sometimes changing the extension is difficult in windows so just use dos.

    in dos just type:

    COPY AVSEQ01.DAT FILENAME.MPG

In a few minutes you will have your MPEG file ready for viewing
    Easy!

Just make sure you are in directory where the dat file is

This always works for me whether in NT, 2000, XP Haven't tried it with 98 though because I like XP so much and don't want to go back.

    Hope this helps
