  1. I have a new Sony PC9 with iLink and an old version of Premier (5.5) I can't get it to capture. The Premier is not recognizing the Sony and doesn't show anything on the "Record" monitor when I start the camera. What am I doing wrong? Help please!

  3. Thanks BJ... That's the obvious solution. Why don't you give me the $229.00 to upgrade. Now......is there anyone smarter than BJ out there? Thank you.

well excuse me for telling you the truth ... why don't you read a little at the adobe web site and see that version 6 min. is required for direct DV capture from within the program except for special versions of 5.5 that were made for specific hardware/capture cards/systems ..

    http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/200101/20010108premiere.html

also - you can upgrade any version of premiere to 6.5 for $149 suggested list price and i see upgrades listed for $99.

you can also get the full version of premiere w/ some DV capture cards for very very cheap ...

  5. Okay I am not sure how good you are with premier. To make sure you have the connections correct, just press play on the camera and what ever is on the camera should play on the monitor window of premier. Now hit the little red record circle on the monitor window to try and record the tape.

That will take the premier camera(device) controller out of the equation.

If that ll works it means you might have something wrong with the device controller settings.

Premeire 5.5 does not work with firewire devices. i.e it has limited almost non firewire support.
There are some patches on adobe page which will give it limited support but they dont work in all situations.

Firewire was only fully suported in version 6.0 and 6.5 and onwards.
