  1. Hi all,

I have a question similar to the one in "dvd-svcd player in U.S." topic.
I also need a DVD player capable of PAL to NTSC playback.
But I would like to restrict my search by brand-name models, I don't want any of Apex, Mintek, Norcel etc.

Does any of the following support PAL to NTSC?

    JVC XV-S300
    Panasonic DVD-RV32
    Sony DVP NS315
    Philips DVD724AT

    Pioneer DV-C505
    Panasonic DVD-CV52
    Philips DVD793CH

Any info on other models would be also appreciated.

Have a great day everyone !!!

  3. I have the JVC XV-S300BK (I think the BK just indicates that the color is Black) and it does a great job of PAL playback of VCD's and SVCD's on a NTSC television.

However, before I bought the unit, I sent JVC an e-mail asking if it would play back PAL. It took them over a week to answer my e-mail, and by then I had already bought the unit, brought it home, and tested it myself.
When I finally did get an e-mail back from JVC, it said: NO...JVC products sold in north america do not support the PAL format.

I don't know why JVC said no. I don't have any PAL DVD's to test, but it has worked with PAL VCD's and SVCD's

I bought the JVC after returning a Magnavox (Made by Philips) that would play back PAL, but the picture was squashed & distorted.
