    Nothing obvious about this whole process until you've done it a few times,
    the guides leave a bit to be desired in explaining stuff.

    Go to "my computer" and right click on the DVD-ROM and click "properties".

    this will show you the size of the media disc.

  3. In DVD Decrypter....

    Go to Mode / ISO / Read

    On the right you will see.... Number of Layers: X

    And one more sugestion (heared from somebody). If disk is gold, it is 2 layer disk. Silver mean 1 layer. If this is not true please let me know.
