  1. I have a vcd compliant mpg and want to remove some frames from the video. Can anybody reccomend some software that can do this. I thougt about using a splitter and splitting before and after the frames and then merging. But i couldnt find any software that could do it by frame most only do it by time. I would prefer it be free, so give me what ya got.

free editors will only cut on a I frame , so it will not be only 1 or 2 frames ..

it will be everything between 2 I frames

you can use TMPGenc for this and there are guides for ti on the left ...

to only cut 1 or 2 frames requires re-encoding around the frame and programs such as m2 and vitec do this , and a few others ..

  4. James69: Get on it dude... write one. Do you need a C compiler? There's plenty out there that are free.

  5. Isn't that characteristic of mpeg that you can't cut on frame ? Only I-frame ?

  7. If you are talking mpeg1, you can use TMPGenc

If youa re talking mpeg2, you can "PURCHASE" Ulead Mediastudio 6.5 and you can cut frames out with it.

All else fails, try <edited - see rules -BJ_M>

  13. BJ_M, when say "m2" can do this, are you talking about "M2-Edit Pro V5" from http://www.mediaware.com.au/products.html ??

Eval is available - I think it only lets you do very short clips.

Please Check out a less costly solution
CINAX's -I film edit, which edits MPEG-1 wonderfully,
    even frame by frame..

I'm not sure about this cos' I've never tried, but in TMPG go to settings GOP structure, force picture type settings then in settings force the frames that u want edited to I frames, re-encode that part then delete them?

if you have to re-encode to edit it - you might as well re-encode the whole thing in a editor anyway like ulead or vegas while editing ..

the lines I was thinking along was that if TMPG jumps to I frames in the merge and cut tools in MPEG Tools, then if u take say 1 second of the movie out (starting at that I frame, ending on another) and have the MPEGS cut before and after that section, then force all the frames for that second to I frames, reprocess that one second, delete the specific frame u want then remerge the 3 resulting MPEGs (tell me shut up if u want I've never tried this, just a thought.... )

  21. Got an editor thta will do it finally *sigh*, but when i multiplex the new video with the old audio, and play it in windows media player and drag to a part of the movie it acts paused but the clock ticks then after a minute or so, it will start playing. usually this is instantaneous, but not any more. The closer you move the slider to the end of the movie, the longer it takes. Any suggestions? perhaps ill start a new thread.

windows media player i believe doesnt work correctly (as in the slider) with both VBR and broken time code material ... you cant do much about the VBR but you could fix the timecode .. but really its a better option to just use powerdvd or windvd instead

  24. Its a VCD mpg file, CBR as VBR is not possible for VCD

  26. So what is final solution ? I am looking into cutting/triming mpeg2 files that will not re-encode whole video (possibly only few frames around cut). Is it possible ?
