  1. I really need help.

I've finally found a copy of the movie Rad. As I watched parts I discovered it was ripped from a VCR. I wanted to make it a VCD to keep so I started out with trying to convert it in TMPGEnc. It begins to work fine but I think at about 20% an error occurs and it stops. I tried several times until finally scanning the video file closely. There is a small "blip" in where the movie stops for several seconds, odd colors with fuzziness arise, and there is no sound. Then it begins to play again. I also tried using VirtualDub but it will not even load in it because of an error marked

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V2) VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Window Media Player, are not suitable."

I also thought maybe it would work if I edited the .avi and cut that part out but I know of no avi editing programs that are freeware.

If anyone has had experiences like these or heard of them or know what I can do or definately try to help, please post any suggestions or advice.

    Thank you.

Ok, first of all you have a missing codec. M$ MPEG 4 V2, so you need to install that. Then you can load it into Vdub and scan for junk frames. Once you have deleted the junk frames, you can then use TMPGEnc to convert to VCD mpeg 1

    Codecs are on Kazaa...
