I've created my first dvd-r rip, Black Hawk Down using CladDVDXP 1.3.1, DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc Plus - superb quality but the audio gets progressively out of sync.
Can anyone point me to a fix?
    Thanks,
    Will

I'm using the ac3 and .d2v file from DVD2AVI, I'm not converting the audio file to a .wav after dvd2avi has finished
This is my first dvd to dvd-r conversion (apart from a small test), I've done all my vcd and svcd's this way, without problems.
I use the burning facility in Ulead Movie Maker to burn.
I've searched the forum, all I can find is the audio gap correction facility in TMPGEnc but if my sound gets progressively worse, this is no good.
    Thanks,
    Will

  3. Having the same problem. Going to try TMPgenc tonight with a d2v & a wav acording to

    http://www.dvd9to5.com/TMPGEnc.htm

In 10 hours should have a perfectly out of sync file that is totaly unusable.

I have better news, for me at least (sorry)
Black Hawk Down was my only disaster, the following five have all been fine and my method was the same.
I'll be checking out the link anyway, thanks for posting it
    Good luck.

  5. since you already have an ac3 file and d2v..using tmpgenc with the d2v you can get m2v out of it and you can directly import the m2v and the ac3 file to spruce up or maestro to author your movie, no need to convert it to wav file...use ac3 delay corrector to fix your audio before authoring your movie..

    just my 2 cents

    I've learnt DVD2AVI doesn't *actually* produce an ac3 file.
Whilst it calls it 'ac3', it's actually a wav file.

  7. The correct term is "demux." The AC3 stream is in the VOB, DVD2AVI simply demuxes it into an AC3. But I can assure you my DVD2AVI AC3 demuxes play in all their full Dolby Digital glory.

Are you saying that by following the default settings in DVD2AVI, and the same again in TMPGEnc (by simply importing the ac3 file) my output dvdr's should be 5.1?
the ac3 files produced, sorry demuxed <hand slap> by dvd2avi doesn't play as 5.1 for me, and I didn't know I was doing anything to prevent that.

After doing some more reading, of course you're dead right - but you already knew that
I'm getting confused by running the dv2 and ac3 through TMPGEnc (that strips the ac3 audio file of 5.1 right).
I've only ever used this method (CladDVD, DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc) but would like to create 5.1 dvdr's.
So, all I need do is change my encoding package?
    Thanks,
    Will

So, I simply run the d2v file through TMPGEnc and not the audio.
    How do I create a m2v from a d2v, simply by renaming?
Might seem like a dumb question but will the ac3 file automatically be the correct size for a dvdr?

It's the output file from TMPGenc that is the m2v file. The d2v file is for input. If you were going to use Cinemacraft, you would use VFAPI converter or AVIsynth instead since it can't open the d2v file directly.

Of course, so really another name for the encoded mpeg file, I guess.
    Thanks, much clearer now

  13. m2v is just the extension for the mpeg2 video stream file. mpg is used for mpeg program streams which contain both audio and video.
