  1. i have been using cce with dvd2dvdr successfully but it works the bitrate out for you.
i want to learn how to use cce on its own and what i need to know is.

    i have m2v file=5,065,990
    ac3 file=309,965 at 384kbps
    the film is 110mins long.

i put this into a calc and it says to encode no higher than 5027kbps.

where in cce do you put this cause it as 3 parts (min, avg and max)
which one do you put it under and what are the other two for.

Put the calculated rate into average. Minimum and maximum tell it how to allocate the bitrate for motion analysis. Set the maximum to 9000,the minimum isa matter of opion but 1000 is probably a good level. You should give the 1-passVBR setting a test. It's faster and produces identical results.

  3. thanks for that wolf.
    one more question.
i had a look at the one pass vbr and the settings change again to (Q, min and max).
how do set it to the size of file you want if their is no average.

Leave the Q value at it's default setting. The minimum functions like an average rate, but not quite. I just transcoded the movie Independence Day which runs 2 hours and 25 minutes. I used a setting of 3500 minimum and finished DVD was 4.29GB's
I find that if you set the minimum at the rate a bitrate calculator gives you it usually works.
