Ok, I downloaded a movie and the audio was out of sync. I fixed that problem but now towards the end the video and audio r about 5 seconds apart. I look at the guide for gradual sync problems. I got Sound Forge but it will not let me load up the audio to fix the sync problem like the guide says. At first it said I needed to purchase the MainConcept MPEG 1&2 plug-in. Its $30 and I don't have a credit card. So I tried to see if I updated my version would it work. Now when I try to load up the audio it says "The file format plug-in for the specified format was not properly initialized." I never bought the plug-in. Am I doing something wrong. Is there another program I could use to fix this sync problem without somehow purchasing this plug-in. Or is there anywhere to download it for free. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

First, demux your mpeg stream. This should leave you with an m1v (video) and an mp2 (audio) file. If Sonic won't let you open this mp2 file, try Goldwave, or, use Winamp to play the mp2 to wav file. Then load the wav in Sonic/Goldwave and stretch/compress it. Save as WAV.
Then, reencode to mp2 with wav2mp or tooLame and multiplex this new mp2 with your original m1v. If you've stretched/compressed right, (and the desync increased linear thruout the movie!) your movie now ought to be in sync.

The audio comes 5 sec. after the video so should stretch it or compress it. Also thanks for the help I'm still new at this.

If the audio comes after the video, you'll have to time stretch the audio to make it fit the video. Take some both visually and audibly distinct event at the end of the movie (door banging) and time how long after the event the sound comes. Then make the WAV this much longer by stretching it. This works if the audio gradually desyncs throughout the movie. If it's in perfect sync to a point, and then suddenly becomes out of sync, then there's something else wrong that this relatively simple method wont cure.
