  1. please, can some1 somehow kill posts started long ago?

And how about killing some of these king john guides?

People are starting not to care all about vcd creation,
and are now more worried about dvd creation, not
all this video codec stuff and mpeg splitting either....

  2. This site is dedicated to VCD, SVCD, and DVD. You can always go to a DVD only site if you wish. There is a trend where there are many more DVD posts than a few months ago.

Judging by the newbie questions (and some seasoned veteran questions) guides such as the ones being produced are still very relevent.

Old posts are like old books, don't read them if you don't want to.

  3. Good attempt at humor? :P

If people don't care anymore about VCD creation, tell me why o why almost every time I log on, I see the old "divx to vcd sound sync prob" (or xvid) and such?...

As for King whatever's guides, dunno, haven't seen 'em.

As far as video codecs go, well, there's all kinds of threads on that too. But mind you, there's got to be like already 200 threads about "ripping VCD" as they say "DAT2MPG", and it's been answered too many times already, and besides, there's guides that explain it all.

Think we should have a delay before people suscribe and can post. That would save a lot of "join and ask how to turn a dvd into a vcd" type of deal. People need to be forced to read the guides and threads, because they're obviously not doing it...

  4. No way !!! Do not kill any old posts. It would be like forget how to make fire with wooden stick since we have lighters and matches. One day you might need to find out how to do it.

I may have to remove old posts soon cause the forum database is becoming a bit too big. It would also help to speed up the forum a bit.

    rsuave5,
    you crack me up

As far as "old posts" DEFINATELY keep them, but archive them in a mannor
that we all can view them, like monthly or Quarterly (4 months worth)
The example below is probably your best route, and.. long live those old
posts, be it VCD or whathaveyou.

    Pleas LEAVE those old posts.
They mostly are still very informational to solve "old topic" problems.

Some time ago (end of 2001, begin of 2002), there happened something at these forums leading to destroying the old posts.
Some were very very informational. Hope this never happens again.
Better put those old posts in some archive, so if necessary one can still relay on those.

    A+

All old posts exists...but they are in a different forum and it requires a lot of work to fix them back in some archive format. But I will try to make some kind of archive for old posts and bring posts older than 2001 back also...but it will take some weeks to fix...

  12. Don`t kill old posts, kill the new ones where people have not been bothered to look around this site for more than 10 seconds to find answers.

Kill the stupid questions like :

    What is a VCD ?

    Can i burn a 30,000GB AVI file to a 700Mb CD-R without re-encoding ?

My soundcard wont capture video. Why not ?

etc..... etc.... ( My examples are a bit OTT, i know, but i hope you get my drift )

I`ve noticed a large increase in those types of posts over the past few months. I`m sure ( I hope ! ) i`m not the only one who thinks they are getting annoying now.

All posts since July 2001 are back online. But the search will not find older posts than about 6 months old.

I will add static html pages for all topics so google can find the old one and index them for the best search.

    Hi Baldrick..

Thanks for adding the old posts back in. I was looking for a thread that
I had someone test one of my samples to see if they would Author as
a DVD, and I needed this thread to know WHICH file it was that passed
the test. But, now that you have added it back in, I'll do another search.
I hope that I find it. Was back in early 2002.

    Thanks again.

Why, kill old posts as they can be of help. Sometime ago I had to go to one of my old posts to research and find answers.

    DON'T DELETE THEM!!!
