this seems like it would be simple, but i can't find a solution.
i ripped a dvd to all separate chapters (a different m2v and ac3 file for every chapter) and would like to know how to back it up on a dvd-r so when i watch the dvd, i can flip through the original chapters.
Thank You sooo much if you reply!!

this is not really the correct way to do it and you've made a lot of work for yourself. If you have the original DVD, the rip it again and leave it as one M2V and one AC3. Create a chapter list from the original IFO and apply this.
The only other way I can think of (If you haven't got the original DVD) and want to watch it as a complete movie (but with chapters) is to time each chapter (make a note of the time), remux it all back together again, manually create a chapter file from the above info, then reauthor. Of course, if you just to be able to play the parts at will (but not seperately), then you can just import them all into your authoring package and play them with normal navigation keys.
I personally use Ifoedit to author - remember the celltimes.txt is the number of frames per second x the duration in seconds. ie 2 minutes into the film is written as 25x120 = 3000 (assuming PAL frame rate here).
Good luck - personal opinion - re rip the DVD if you can get hold of it !
