I figured this should appear in "Off Topic", it will eventually become a "Capturing" topic, but since there's nowhere for SVHS recorders... here goes.

I am discovering that I'm getting a little fristrated doing captures directly from TV using my ATI Radeon board. EIther I'll have that one small glitch that drives me insane and makes a whole hour-long capture useless, or I will simply not want my PC tied-up every time I want to capture!

My potential solution is... SVHS. I would ideally like to get an SVHS recorder, but it must have a time-base corrector (to eliminate macrovision, and also to stabilize crappy source videos copied to it), and a TV tuner (so I can set the timer whilst I'm away)...

Then I can just capture directly from SVHS tape to the ATI input (S-video, audio in), and do it whenever I feel like.

Can anyone reccomend a good one, at an affordable price? I've searched, but for some reason I can't find one with a time base corrector on it, or it's called something else...

Thanks for any and all help!

Had also trouble finding the "perfect" solution for a S-VHS recorder. After many weeks of searching around, reading articles and forums I have made up my mind that only Panasonic and JVC make the more decent ones.

Regarding the wishes you have including the digital time base corrector you can get with the Panasonic NV-HS860S or the JVC HRS8700.
