I loaded a 720x480 MPEG2 file with the LoadDirectShowSource command in AVIsynth and frameserved to VirtualDub. The problem is that all the red colors seem to become double-pixel / blocky as a result when I edit in VirtualDub. I tried adding the ConvertToYUY2 in AVIsynth, but that didn't help.
I can load the MPEG2 file in DVD2AVI and save it as an AVI from there with no problems, but I would like to be able to get it to work through AVIsynth.
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?

Might try this..
Load up in DVD2AVI and use F4 to save as d2v project and use Gordian Knot to open up. then use the "Save and Encode" button to create the Avisynth script and see how that goes. -
Thanks that did the trick.
I can't believe I have never heard of this wonderful little program. I don't need to use the whole thing, actually. It installs an MPEG2-thingy for AviSynth, sp I checked out the .avs script it generated, and just copied the relevant bits to my own script, and hey presto, no red blockiness.
Thanks again.
