does it come up with any warnings when you first load you avi into VDub? If it doesnt then check the video streams for errors. Then click on audio settings, check the compression is pcm, click on avi and go to file menu and save as wave, typing name of file in.
This should save out the uncompressed wave. Use the avi file as your source file in tmpgenc and choose this new wave file as your audio source for tmpenc.
If it comes up with warnings you probably have VBR mp3 as sound.
Hope this helps, there are plenty of posts on this subject so mine is not definitive!
Good luck Tom
