i know their is somebody out there who can explain.
if for example i had a m2v file at 5gb and a ac3 file at 500mb
what setting in the bitrate part would you put in to get round about
4.5 gb.

A DVDR only holds 4.37gb, i normally re-encode so that it comes to 4.3gb as this leaves a little space just to be on the safe side. So 4.3gb minus 500mb audio = video of 3.8gb. To calculate the bitrate you need to specify how long the movie is in minutes.
