  1. hey, i got a webcam for christmas, and a mic to go with it, i installed the mic, it rocks no problem, but when i tried to rip an episode of Popular today the sound it recorded was the sound of the video coming through the speakers of my pc being picked up by the nearby mic... i've unplugged the mic and tried to change sound levels to get it back to normal and that but now i'm now not getting any audio at all being recorded, it's just a muted avi it's recording..... even though all sound apilcations on my pc are working fine... anyone have an idea?

    thanks so much in advance...

I have tried hard to work out what you are doing, "You tried to rip an episode of Popular today" does that mean you have a DVD and are ripping it ? cos you don't "Rip" when you capture.

"it's just a muted avi it's recording" so your saving it as AVI from a capture card and it has no sound ?

    Whew.. this is hard work..

If you are capturing via a capture card, then make sure you have selected the correct location for the sound, sound normal comes from the "Line in" socket, if your microphone is plugged into the "Mike" socket it can be "Muted" use the sound control panel and check your input lines, is line in muted ?

how do you "uninstall my mic" you just plug it in the sound cards mic socket and it works !, just switch it off when you dont need it via the sound control panel
