DRU-500A and Verbatim DVD-R

Hi, did anyone of you have experiences with the DRU-500A 1.0f and Verbatim DVD-R (94077) media. I have tried it with various programs (Nero 5.5.10.0, WinOnCD 6 DVD, RecordNOW, Instant Write) and I always get medium error and always at the same position.

Did anyone have had good results with the 94077 DVD-R media from Verbatim ???

Is this the media noted in the pink insert that comes with the drive stating 2x DVD-R Verbatim media manufactured before Oct 31 2002 does not work?

I don't know. I have ordered this media in germany and I thought that the media mentioned by sony was not distributed in europe...

I have had great sucsess w/ verbatim dvd+rw 2.4x and dvd+r 2.4x that they have in bulk at sams. I never tried it before the upgrade to 1.0f though.

I have read your post. I live in Italy and I have a SONY DRX500UL, the external drive, it is EXACTLY the same as when connected with PC it is recognised as DRU500A....I have 1.0f firmware and I have tested some DVD-R.

With VERBATIM I have the same problem, they DIE when about 13% of mastering.

I have tried HAMLET but the machine simply doesn't recognise them, it says: BLEAH!

I have used with success IMATION (Euro 3.50), TDK (Euro 12), MMORE (Euro 5).

I use NERO 5.5.10.0 and Padus DiscJuggler 04.01.1056

axlish: Where is your Sam's? Mine doesn't sell any DVD recordables. Do they have both DVD+R and DVD-R's?

Verbatim DVD-R is my favorite media to use with my Sony 500A. With this media, I can play on both of my standalone players Apex 1010W and RCA 5220. HP +r media will only work for my RCA and Princo media will only work for my Apex

Well, I think Italy is a leader between Third World Countries so I am sure that the VERBATIM DVD-Rs available here are those with code you mention. I haven't checked, sorry. I haven't tested other types like the + and - RW since I don't like very much them.
