Is it possible to back up a dvd by recording it on the fly from a second dvd drive, and what program does it require if possible?

Yes, it is possible, with some DVDs!!
- they have to be DVD-5s (DVD-9 contains more data than you can put on your DVD-R)
- they have to be unprotected (they are quiet a lot; I already copied on-the-fly 3 concerts and an Almodovar movie!)
- you can use Nero (I'm using Nero express 5.5.9.20 which came along with my Asus DVD burner)
- Without any of those conditions, it is IMPOSSIBLE (as far as I know, I'm a 5 days newbie in the "business"to copy on-the-fly!
- DVDXCOPY can copy any DVD-5 (or DVD-9 on 2 DVD-Rs), making an image on hard disk first. But you CAN copy the copy you made with Nero then!!
- DVDDECRYPTER is also good to copy DVD-5s, using the ISO read / ISO write fonctions.
- for DVD-9s, I'm still looking. Best softwares seem to be those I talked about + DVD2DVR which need the cinemacraft encoder, SMARTRIPPER, DVDMAESTRO, ... but I still haven't the solution yet
Hope it helped,Bruno, 30
