  1. Im am trying extract wav from my avi file when i try with virtual dub i get this message "The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling count and channel count of input match those of the requested format" what do i do to get it to work.

I can extract it with goldwave and the audio will be in sync for the first bit but it begins to get worse and worse as the movie goes on.

    Hi

I have put together a few test files, the idea is you play each one to verify your system has all the codecs, you can also load them (AVI) into Vdub and experiment, if at anytime things don't work, you can see by the name of the file that you have a missing codec.

The error your getting is normally given when you are trying to decompress something, but don't have the decompressor for it. So if you were trying to decompress a MP3 to a WAV but did not have the MP3 codec then you would get that error. You can also get that error if you selected a bitrate that was not available. If your MP3 codec only supported bitrates up to 128kbs and you selected a 346kbs then you would also get that error.

Since you are saving and converting to WAV, then chances are it is AC3 that you have missing. Download and install the Moonlight Odio Dekoda, Universal AC-3/MPEG Audio (Layer 1/2/3) Decoder. Once you have that codec Vdub will work just fine.
