I'm trying to join 2 mpeg files in TMPGEnc 2.59. I'm using the Mpeg-1 VideoCD template in Merge and Cut. I keep getting the following error, "File mr-pt.2.mpg is not compatiable with the other MPEG file." I cut the file with Merge and Cut in TMPGEnc. Its a 3 hour movie in 2 files, so it need to be 3 files. Is there is a better program instead of TMPGEnc to join mpeg's? Can someone help me with this?

    Hey Poppy56

Are your Mpegs both the same resolution, video bitrate, audio bitrate, same resolution? If so, they should work. If not, you're going to have to re-encode one of them to match the other.

Poppy; you can check the files with 'Bitrate Viewer' which can be found with Google search. It's freeware and will tell you all about your MPEG files. If they're MPEG1 files then Virtual Dub will tell you under file, info.

    Chas,

I checked the resolution and bitrate. The second mpeg I'm trying to merge has a different bitrate and resolution than the first. They are not the same. How do I change the bitrate and resolution in TMPGEnc to re-encode it?

    Thanks

    Poppy,

What are the bitrates, resolutions of each Mmpeg, and are they both Mpeg1 or Mpeg2 files? Which file is the largest and are you making a VCD or SVCD. If you answer all 5 questions I can help you.

    Chas,

The 2 files are MPeg1 and I was making a VCD.

    The bitrate and resolution:

    File1 - 1150Kbps, 640x272, 23.976 fps
    File2 - 1149Kbps, 640x272, 30.000 fps

    Thanks

I didn't see that you were using TMPGEnc. Just re-encode (both if you have to) the 30fps file to 23.976fps.
