  1. I've searched the forums and can't find any useful information regarding my problem. I need to extract the video from a few SVCDs that I have burned with VCDImager to my hard drive so I can do some editing with it. So far, I've tried dragging the mpeg2 file from the MPEG2 directory on the cd to my hard drive. No luck. I get a "Cannot copy AVSEQ02: Invalid MS-DOS function." error.

Then I tried IsoBuster. Still get an error.

I tried using VCDEasy's VCDxRip tool which looked like a valid solution at first. However, since I originally made my SVCD's bin file with VCDImager, the cd doesn't contain any XML file, which is what VCDEasy's VCDxRip needs to function.

I tried making a bin file from the cd, and then I figured I would extract the mpeg from the bin file. I got an error when trying to make the bin file.

Does ANYONE have any valid solutions for this problem?

Get TMPGenc and go to file/mpeg tools/cut and merge. Load the mpg directly off the disk, set the type to "Mpeg2 Super Video-CD (VBR) and set the output and hit Run. It won't actually cut anything but it should make a new copy of the mpg on your hard drive.

  3. It may sound silly, but make sure that you're "copying" and not trying to "move" the file. I know from past experiance that a move will give strange messages because you can't erase it from the CD.

I initially had problems with VCDEasy from playing in explorer with the file. After I rebooted, I did get VCDEasy to work:

Goto the (S)VCD Build/Rip section. Then down to the bottom section that Disassemble an (S)VCD disk. Put the SVCD in your CD Writer and click CD Writer. In the XML field type in the drive you want the file to be saved to and a name to save it to and give it an .xml extension. Click Rip. When done you will have an xml, bin, toc and an ASEQ01.MPG file on your hard drive. You can then move the mpeg file to where ever you want it.

  5. oooooohhhhh!!!! i can't believe i totally overlooked the point of VCDxRip. I thought you had to select an XML file from the CD...I didn't realize it was saving an XML file onto your hard drive. Thanks so much hwoodwar for clearing this up for me!
