  1. I have found a program that allows you to make cds/dvds containing Divx files that are able to be played in the PS2. I have heard that it actually does work, but a mod chip is necessary.
Is there a particular chip that anyone here has used and is happy with? Any info would be appreciated!

  2. you can try the cd swap technique commonly used with home brewed games or bootlegs. I have not tried it since I don't have a PS2 and everyone I know who does isn't ballsy enough. If you willing to get a mod chip and solder it in by yourself, this might be safer. Their is only one mod chip that would let you play CD-R disks that you wouldn't have to solder, and that you would need to plug a card wire in which I have trouble with. So if you want to try the swap trick, which you need a gameshark type devise, go here: http://family.asdfhost.com/ps2tutorial.html

For mod chip go to here:

if you do go the mod chip way, you need a chip that will let you play CD-R since most mod chips are ment for import games and not homebrewed games since people could easily bootleg with them.

  3. I've PS2 with a chip called Messiah and it works perfectly. Just stick your CD in it, push reset button and that is it. The only issue is that the mounting is very difficult
