After having problems with the Mediaplayer 7 (not playing some avi and wmv files) and generally not liking it I deinstalled it and got 6.4 back. Now something odd happens. The player seems to deinstall itself frequently. After a day or less I get an error message when opening the program or trying to play back a file. Wish I had written down the error message when it occurs, of course now it doesn't..anyway, something about the player not running with 32-bit? I got windows 98 and never had a problem like that before. I have to reinstall the 6.4 about once or twice a day!! the computer doesn't even require a reboot, it just works again, just like that.
Any idea what the problem could be?
The only thing I did that I could IMAGINE maybe causing a problem, was following an advice on this site about what to do when not being able to play VCDs:
Having a look at the file SCSI1HLP.VXD in Window's \SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS and renaming the file extension in case it is NOT vxd or getting the file if one doesn't have it (it had a different extension in my case) Could that have anything to do with my problem?
