Hi, i am having trouble with DVD Decrypter (i think).

I am selecting IFO mode and selecting the main video, then i go into stream processing and enable stream processing then i choose the video stream, a 6channel audio stream and an english subtitle stream, i choose the demux method and i rip to hard drive.

I end up with an M2V video stream (i tell it not to split the video),
    A DVD Maestro chapter file,
    An Ifo file,
    A VTS_01_1.vob file,
and a stream information txt file.

I do not know if i am doing something wrong but i am not getting an AC3 audio stream.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

  2. You have to select each one in turn and choose demux

So select video and set to demux, then select audio and set to demux etc.

    Hope this helps

    Speaking about people still learning,....

I've seen all kinds of posts in this and other forums, but I just don't get it.
Why does anyone ever want to Demux a DVD video that combines MPEG video and AC3 audio in such a proffessional way. I don't understand it so it makes no sense. Why rip it appart and then use something else to remux it back together. Other programs just rip to VOB's. What is the basic difference.

    Would someone help explain this.

The only reason i do it is so i can then import them into Maestro, i like using Maestro (although i am still having a problem with the subtitles, hopefully they'll soon be sorted).

I liike using Maestro because i can use it to make my own DVD's and not just create backups, of my DVD's.

If you are creating a DVD to a single disk, you would, when it is too large, demux to a separate file and then re-encode with rempeg etc and then recombine the two files, Ifoedit etc,, to make them fit on a single disk. Creating , of course, DVD and not SVCD or VCD

OK, thanks for the info. I can see if that is the goal, to re-encode such that the final movie ends up on 1 disk as opposed to 2,.. is a valid goal. But the process will resuce the overall quality of the movie,.. ie. lower bit rate means lower quality compress into mpeg. Is this really worth the time and effort it takes to rip, strip, re-encode, remux, author, and burn,.. if the other guides suggest that for an additional $2.00 2nd disk, you can rip, split, and burn,... at no loss in quality. After all, most people need a poddy break anyway after an hour of movie time.

I have seen some forums, which I have not yet proven, that suggest that the effort can be as simple as ripping the entire movie in Decryptor, separating the vob's to two VIDEO_TS file and then burning two disk.

What am I missing. How cheap to you have to be to do all that work, with lots of possibility for error, just to save $2.00. No offense intended, just my opinion.

  10. Also the loss in video quality isn`t a great deal.

Spooki, That's as good an answer as I've seen anywhere else. I think I will stick with 2 disks, if I can get that to work reliably, until I learn what I'm doing, then try to squeeze a DVD down to one disk. The tempation is there to do it,... I have one movie that when stripped of languages, intro, is just over 5GB. If I could get rid of the Warner Bros. logo, and delete the credits at the end, it all just may fit. If not, that would be worth it to re-encode the bit stream.

One last point. I've seen comparisons of most Encoders, but have not seen a rating on rempeg. Is it as good as TMPGen, or CCE?
Thanks for the info. and your help.
