If I compress a example Divx movie to a Divx movie again, then the size will get shorter and can I then use it to fit one CD,burning it to a regular vcd without any problems?

  2. That doesn't make sense. If you convert to VCD anyway, why would you want to make the DivX file smaller??? You do know that you have to convert your movie to a VCD compliant MPEG1 stream, do you? You can't just burn an AVI on a CD and expect it to run in a standalone DVD player.

    Those who understand binary

I know that I have to encode it to mpg with encoder like TMPGEnc but if I have a DivX movie which size is example 750MB,then can I compress it again so the movie gets smaller which makes it possible to encode it to vcd with TMPGEnc with only 1 CD.

Oh now I see,the size of the outputting mpg depends on the length of the AVI,not the size of the AVI.
