  1. Hello everyone...this site has so much information and I think I have looked at every single bit of information in the last 3 nights about my problem with my Pioneer A05U.

I am waiting for more media...but have not tried anything but burning a 2 different DVDs (Toy Story, Fast and the Furious)...without luck. I have only tried using the DVD-RW that came with the burner. I used DVDXCOPY 1.2.1 (wihtout luck) and then I tried ripping the movie using smart ripper and then burning with Nero 5.5.10 (in UDF/ISO and UDF) using UDF 1.02 file system version. I HAVE NOT MADE A SINGLE DVD that is readable in my Toshibe 6X DVD-ROM, or the Pioneer A05 itself, or my Samsung P421.
I am just about to try burning with VOB Instant DVD 6.5+.

HAS ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO BURN a DVD-RW movie with the Pioneer DVD-RW media disc that came with the burner? (the media disc model# is DVS-RW47CF)

Does anyone have any ideas? please help me ...because I do not want to return this bad boy.
If I try the Pioneer DVD-R that came with the burner will I make my first sucessful burn?

Thank you so much to anyone who helps me in advance,

    GULU

  2. I have the 4x Pioneer A05 and no probs what so ever... even 1.10$ per dvd-rw disc i used.. and no prob.. I have a stand alone pioneer dv-343 model dvd player and works like a champ.. and I use 2.00$ 4x DVD-r and .99c 2x DVD-r and no probs..

The main program I use is DVD x Copy 1.3.1 the newest.. and the firmware on the drive DOES NOT NEED TO BE UPDATED.

Try in ADVANCED options where you can burn in ALTERNATE MODE or UDF ??? (cant remember) mode.. ALTERNATE MODE is all I use and everything works fine..

Or search the forums.. Im sure youll find an answer..

I paid $265.00 US dollars for my burner.. RETAIL!

What did you pay.. im curious.

  3. I recently bought the A05 drive too. I burned 2 movies, one with the Pioneer DVD_RW that came with it and another one with Princo DVDR.

I burned Toy Story on the DVD_RW and Dinasaur on the Princo DVDR. Neither of them work on my Panasonic, Sony stand alone player. I pop the newly burned DVDs in the computer and Neither of them played. I then put them in the A05 drive, the Princo DVD play ok there, but the Pioneer DVD_RW hung the system. I though for sure that they are both failed burn copies. I then took both disk to my buddy's Toshiba(can't remember the model) DVD stand alone player, the DVD_RW play fine to my surprise. But the Princo still does not play. But the Princo disk burned ok with an A03. I guess there may be some issue with Princo on A05.

  4. I too recently bought a A05U some 3 months ago my first DVD writer. I knew it wasn't going to be easy and expected a long learning curve. I found that the bundled discs and software were next to useless. I downloaded TMPGEnc and DVD Shrink and found that I could at last manage to create DVD's that played back on my computer, stand alone DVD player and Goodmans Personal DVD Player. However I was using Datawrite Classic 4x discs (Red) and managed to produce 25 coasters. All the discs booted up perfectly and run for about an hour or so before skipping and eventualy locking up. Luckily my next door neighbour isn't a newbie like me and was able to lend me a selection of Ritek discs. All of which have produced perfect results. All discs used the G04 coating and at last I am confident in ordering blank media that I know will work. As far as I am aware all the previous media I've tried has used Princo dye which I've got to be honest doesn't seem to hit the spot.

From reading the various postings on this site It is apparent that this site is primarily USA based. I'm Anglo Saxon in the UK and purchased the drive from Novatech a firm I've used for years and had no issues with. However on trying to acces Pioneer UK for Tech support I was informed that this drive was made for the USA market and there is no Warranty support provided in the UK.
