Hi,
Im trying to make a backup of my 'robbie at the albert DVD' to DVD-R
firstly I used DVD Decypter 3.1.2.0 to rip it.
Next up DVD2AVI was used to seperate the sound and video. It told me it had:
An Aspect ratio of 16:9
PAL format & was 20fps ????
After putting it through TMPGEnc, the video came out Crisp but jerky.
Any ideas how to get this to play properly as a backup
Many thanks

Sounds like a non-standard DVD by some cheap publishing company. Are you backing up to DVD-R or CD-R? If DVD-R I suggest to not recompress the video. If CD-R, in TMPEnc under the "Advanced" tab check the box that says "Do not frame rate convertion". Convert and burn, see if it works. Might want to encode 5 min to then burn to see if it works, so you don't waste 10 hours.
Hope this helps. -
Or better yet. Make sure that ForcedFilm is not checked in DVD2AVI. That will cause a PAL DVD to think that it is like 20fps. I don't know why I didn't think of that before! If it isn't then just use my previous post.
Hope this helps even more. -
Thanks alot for the quick resonse
.
Im going to try those ideas out and I'll let you know how I get on.
Many thanks -
DivExpert,
Just removed the forced film option in DVD2AVI and instantly when I started to process it, 25 fps was reported instead of the 20 fps that I had before.
Im sure this will cure it mate.
Thanks again.
