I'm not totally sure, but i think DVDSP doesn't except vobs. Try ripping to elementary streams using OSeX. Then import them to DVDSP.
Thats what I do and it works 100% of the time.

Try using Extractor (http://denisx.dyndns.org/extractor/), it works ok, but the best one has been DVD Extractor 0.9b for classic MacOS. I mirrored them on my idisk in case they unavailable online for some reason.

But yeah, DVDSP will not work with VOB files, and so you must extract the m2v and ac3 streams to import into DVDSP. I've had much better compatibility with Extractor and DVD Extractor and DVDSP.

DVD BackUp 1.3 works just fine for any dvd that is 4.4 gigs or less. It is OS X software.. You take the dvd, drop it into DVDBackup 1.3 and it extracts all the VOB and etc files automatically. Then it makes it ready for you to burn using Toast. I have well over 300+ movies backed-up using this method.. Larger dvd's than 4.4 I have not even messed with yet, as that is a whole other ball of wax. Total time per dvd = 10 minutes for extraction... 50 minutes for burning to a dvd-r that plays in any DVD just about that is fairly new. Peice o' cake 8)

I use DVD Backup to copy DVDs to my hard drive. 8 GBs no sweat. (I never back them up though. I just do this to watch movies on the plane and then delete them afterwards.)

300 movies backed up? Holy crap man! That's pushing half a terabyte!

He is referring to backing them up onto DVD-R media. I am pushing the 200 dvd count. Gave my local video rental place a run for the money...

Well I do have a 600 gig Hotline server, but I save that file space for movies at the theatres and other things... But yes, I meant taking a dvd movie and then burning it to dvd-r. Although I have on several occasions used DVDBackUp to save the dvd movie to my hd on my iBook for watching on a trip or flight or whatever... Totally legal, and saves TONS on the battery life... DVD playing on ANY laptop kills the battery.
