I need a device and big hard drive to begin my home movie and old VHS to VCD etc. conversion journey but like many of you $$$ is at a premium.
I'd like the ADVC-100 but honestly the 50 will do all I need plus I could get a nice hard drive with it for the same amount of $$$ as the 100 alone.
The one stumbling block is Macrovision. A couple old and now rare retail VHS tapes I want to convert are Macrovision protected. Is there a work around using an ADVC-50 or am I stuck shelling out the extra bucks for the 100?

Anyone have any experience with this question? Also it appears, at least on the surface, that the DAC-100 from Data-Tek is very similar to the Canopus ADVC-100 but $100 cheaper. Has anyone used this and does it have the same Macrovision 'work-around'?
Any input would be appreciated -
I thought I read something a macrovision and the DAC-100 at their web site. Other than that I don't remember if it does or does not.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
