Is it best to capture in 480*480 if i am going to convert it to svcd mpeg-2 anyways?? if not what would be the best??

For the most part I do not capture for SVCD format. However, I do capture for CVD format, which is very similar. When I have a "good" signal going into my PC I can capture/encode/burn an "excellant" quality CVD by capturing at the same resolution I encode to (352 x 480.)
That being said, I know there are some people that claim they get better quality by capturing at their highest resolution, usually 704 or 720 x 480. On my system I have tested this an "I" could not see any significant difference. -
I think the key is the vertical resolution. It is my understanding that a cap of 352x480 would be superior to 640x240.
I capture at 480x480 and 640x480. I see little difference in the final svcd or cvd when I experimented with these capture resolutions. -
