  1. Have distributors setup to where one can purchase movies online, then download the movie to keep on their computer or burn to DVD ?

I know illegal copies are availible but that is not what I am after.
doing a search for "movie download" just brings endless porno links.

For convenance purposes I would like to purchase Movies online and D/L

Is it here ?, or in the near future ?

    Thanks,
    Nick

I don't think there are any that let you actually copy the movie to your hard drive but there are some sites which let you have access to the movie for a period of time...basically you rent it.

The closest thing to what you are looking for is probably http://www.cinemanow.com/ but I don't think that helps much. From what I have read, the quality of these movies is pretty poor.

  3. I think the movies on cinemanow are streaming video. If you have a stream box you could probably copy it to your HD.

  4. I was looking for full DVD quality,
Pay for the movie, D/L it, burn it to DVD (I know it would be a long D/L with broadband)
The industry could sell alot of movies this way in the $5-7 range.

Sorry, but no companies offer that yet, and probably won't ever. That would be like them selling the movie for $5-7, and also making it a hell of alot easier for people to pirate them. I'm pretty sure they'd rather stick to selling $20 DVD's that not everyone knows how to "backup". But, as Adam stated, you can RENT movies online. CinemaNow (www.cinemanow.com) offers that as well as MovieLink (www.movielink.com). CinemaNow also offers adult films, while MovieLink is stricly hollywood movies. If the movies are the same quality as the trailers (www.movielink.com) then I wouldnt pay, cuz the trailers quality are too great. But, if it's better, then the quality looks pretty good and it's about $4.99 to rent the movie, you spend the extra $1 but get to stay at home and not have to worry about returning it, etc. I'd rather not use this service though, as I have a blockbuster 2 min. away from my house. The trailers seemt o use RealVideo so i'm pretty sure i'd be able to download the movies. I don't think we're allowed to discuss that here, so I won't say anymore about that. It's all up to you, but if you're interested in downloading and burning to DVD with ease, then that's not available.

  6. I dont think any even let you keep the movie let alone burn it. Most are WMV files.
