Is the best option to use a PCMCIA video card? (are there any good ones)
Or should I use some sort of external device?
Laptop is fairly new (1.6 Ghz), with 2x USB ports, 1x Firewire, and an composite video out port. All I want to do is transfer some of my old VHS tapes to computer (AVI, MPEG, whatever) so I can eventually manipulate them and burn to cd-r in svcd format (I have that part worked out).
Your assistance is much appreciated.

The Cannapus ADVC-100
It plugs into the firewire bus. It converts analog signals (u'll need a VCR with RCA out) to DV and vise versa./
