    Hi
    I recently changed my motherboard from a ECS K75SA to a MSI KT3 Ultra.
    I don't know if that is a relavent issue but my recording of sound from line-in (via SB Live 5.1) has now become a little crackly.

    Recording from wav is fine.

    Line-in sound is fine b4 I record.
    Does this point to a problem with my hardware or the lead I am using??

    I never had this problem b4 changing my MOBO but I have also moved my computer in the room.

    Maybe I damaged the lead.
    But would this cause .........
    PLAYBACK = Fine
    RECORDING = Crackly
    ??????????

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Cheers

  4. There are known problems with via chipsets and them interfering with certain operations like recording. What I have heard is make sure you have the very latest drivers and check for issues on mobo sites etc. (this site is good but does not specialize in this area). Hopefully a software patch will fix it.

  6. Sorry dude (mate?) - you might try a hw forum like http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/forum/12/ to find a Via guru. Heck, I've been known to be wrong

  7. I'm also having this problem. My video looks fine, but my sound is really crackly. Sometimes the crackle doesn't sound that bad, depending on the show/channel, but it's always there.
