RecordNow Max problems

I don't know if the problem i'm having is RNM or what. i'm using v4.5 and i have a PIO-104. My problem is my dvdr will play in my ps2 but not in my standalone. When I burn my dvds I have the record type set to Track at Once: Closed and the next thing is "join" somthing don't memeber what the name is but it's the same as everone in has theres set to. Can anyone help me.

DonPedro, .... easy for you to say,... I already have 1 very good 20GB drive, and an 80 Gb drive for data, video, etc., and now I bought another 80 GB drive to put in "Raid" connection with the other 80 GB drive for max performance in Capture,... and now you suggest that I tell my wife I need another new drive,... Oh by the way, I just go a new 2000 GHz processor, 512 MB of ram as DDR 2700, a new Case, a new "got everything in the world" motherboard,... not to mention the new Digital Camcorder she got me for Xmas..... Hell,... I'm not even allowed out of my computer room,... But you are right,... it would be the best and easier sollution. By the way, I have a dual system configuration now. One for everyday work, and one for Video.

Duncheap;,,, Thanks for the info. I've been told by 100's of people not to install XP over the top of ME. I'm sure the REgistry in Me is so crapped up I could never clean it. I just want to wipe ME clean on "C" and load XP to "C". The problem is I make "C" a very small partion on the first drive so it will contain only Windows XP, and room for expansion. Every program that is installed takes up more space but I set the default directroies of any new software to another drive. I do this to keep the OS in a closed space so I can back it up to CD-RW often. I think in the last 5 years I've only had one problem where I had to reload a piece of software because a file got damaged. However, I probably had to reload the Windows system over 100 times. Backup used to be done to protect against HD failure,... Now it is done to protect against everyday crashes in Windows.... I wish they would forget about "Enhancement" and just fix the dam system so something as simple as Spool32 error wouldn't crash the whole piece of &%@#.

Any other suggestion would be appreciated..... No I can't afford a new wife.

did you choose UDF with Joliet + RR *OR* UDF with RR in the options?
The first one doesnt work right with most of all STP. I use RNM 4.5.

With Nero the same. Never enable Joliet with Video-DVD.
Apparently from that, Nero & RNM using different Recording-Engines. So, if it doesnt work with the one prog, maybe it works with the other.

I have been using RNM for some time now (V4.0) after so much hassle with Nero, that I now wont waste any more time with it.

However, one setting within RNM has always baffled me.

Which is the "more correct" DVD one to use out of these?

UDF wuth Joliet upto 106 in length - or 128 in length?

Mine has always just burnt at the default 106 and has always been fine. Just curious to be honest!

I was just testing this program, versus nero and prassi.... now nero works, but not all the time, and prassi has been pretty good so far, and now this recordmax i heard was really good, and I basically had a test run today, and it didn't work on my stand alone player, i used DVD Decrypter, and decrypted the DVD, and basically burned it with record max by telling it to record the folders video folder and audio folder.... but still no luck, the computer reads it fine.. sooo i dont understand wahts going on..

if i use nero and prassi it works, but Record MAX didnt.. can anyone help me out. i have a panasonic LF-310, basically an LF-311.. if anyone has used this DVD-burner, can u tell me if record max worked for u.

anyways, if anyone knows why mine doesnt work, i would like to hear what otehrs say.. i have a pioneer 250, and panasonic RV-31, and an Apex 500w, now i tested it on pioneer and Apex and it didnt work... soo anyone have any ideas?

I used to have that Panasonic burner, before I got my DRU-500A.

I used the LF-311 (reported as 310 in Windows, even though drive sticker said 311) burner with Nero 5.5.x.x, Stomp RN Max 4 and 4.1, Easy CD Creator 5.0x and VOB Instant CD/DVD 6.x (came with it).

I had no problems with Stomp RN Max 4 and 4.1 with that burner.
I liked Stomp the most.
Although Nero has been improving their DVD video compilation type support... (Used to have bugs).

R N M 4.5 rocks with my 105 pioneer,got the trial version,liked it so much got the deleted, now fully unlocked , and as we type it is recording 4 copys of lord of the rings 2 from a global image 8)

Failure playing back a DVD+RW that was recorded with Nero UDF 1.02.
Burned with RecordNow Max 4.5, and no problems.
Burned with DVD Decryptor 3.1.4, and no problems.

Burning Video-DVDs with UDF and ISO/RR is (IMO and from my experiences) more compatible than burning with UDF/Joliet.
But not to forget, to choose the right burnprog and the right media is an important thing too. 8)

I'm using a Philips dvd+rw burner

I have tried a lot of different version of nero and alot of different settings. And the movies works fine at some players(Sony,Philips), but don't play in other players (Samsung,Pioneer). If I use only UDF the movies will play fine in nearly all players, but it dosen't feel right only using UDF, because the original use UDF/iso.

So I tried Recordnow max today and yeah the movies burnt with recordnow max worked fine on all players I have tested so far! So I guess I will use Recordnow max for now on.......

I uncheck the box next to Joliet, and it works for me. I never bothered trying it with it checked.

I think I left it at the default in RNM. And my disks work fine in old and new players.

Oh by the way, I have used both UDF and UDF w/joliet, and it hasn't caused a problem. I think this only affects long filenames. I have determined that Stomp records a UDF/ISO9660 DVD regardless of that setting.

I choose closed and check the box in the options about VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files.

The only question I have is whether Stomp is using the UDF 1.02, 1.05, or 2.01 as is optional when using Nero where I select 1.02. As long as it's working for me in Stomp without this optoin, I'll keep using Stomp.

Surprises me a little that they wont play in Pioneer Players... huh. But maybe its an older model.

Yeppers everything I've burned with RNM has played in every single standalone player I've tried (DVD+R) I tried the demo, bought the full and have not looked back.

I purchased my DRU500a in late November. It came bundled with Recordnow 4.5 NOT Recordnow Max. Two weeks ago I burned a TDK DVD-RW with Sonic MyDVD (also included with the drive) and when I tried to erase it in Record now, it caused an unrecoverable crash in Win2k. I had to reformat and reload all of my software.

I notice in the software documenatation on the cd-rom does NOT list the DRU500a as supported. I called Sony tech support (clueless, insisted that the software worked with the drive and that I had a "system" problem), Veritas (manufacturer, they did not call back, but an online rep pointed me to Stompic.com for further support). I posted to the Stompinc forum but have not received an official response. Because it's OEM, Sony's the only "official" support option. Oh boy.

It's my opinion that Recordnow crashed my system - although I can't prove it. The drive burns and erases discs fine in Nero, so I'm fairly certain that it's NOT a hardware issue. Rcordnow MAX 4.5 supposedly supports the DRU500a but I've seen alot of forum activity at Stompinc regarding software issues.

If your system crashed and you had to reinstall Win2k, that's a system problem.

The DRU500A works great with RecordNow Max 4.5 and Win2k on my system.

Which versions of w2k are you using?

I use w2k pro with SP3 & PreSP4 & RNM/Nero on sys 1 and w2k adv. server with SP2 & RNM/Nero on sys 2.

Jason - To clarify, I was using Recordnow 4.5 N O T RecordnowMAX. The DRU500a is N O T listed as supported in the software documentation. I'm fully aware that the drive is compatible with Recordnow MAX.

Understand that all I did was click the erase disc button in Recordnow, which caused a crash and reboot, at which point the OS would not reload and the DVD-RW was turned into a coaster.

There is no RecordMax. And RecordNow DX is an upgrade to RecordNow, NOT an upgrade to RecordNow Max.

I have a panasonic lv50 player which only plays discs burned with dvd video in Nero.

The other templates in Nero for dvd will not play in either pc or Nero.

Recordnow disc won't play at all in standalone or pc.

Could someone give me some advice on what I am doing wrong ?
