  1. Hello,
I was just testing this program, versus nero and prassi.... now nero works, but not all the time, and prassi has been pretty good so far, and now this recordmax i heard was really good, and I basically had a test run today, and it didn't work on my stand alone player, i used DVD Decrypter, and decrypted the DVD, and basically burned it with record max by telling it to record the folders video folder and audio folder.... but still no luck, the computer reads it fine.. sooo i dont understand wahts going on..

if i use nero and prassi it works, but Record MAX didnt.. can anyone help me out. i have a panasonic LF-310, basically an LF-311.. if anyone has used this DVD-burner, can u tell me if record max worked for u.

anyways, if anyone knows why mine doesnt work, i would like to hear what otehrs say.. i have a pioneer 250, and panasonic RV-31, and an Apex 500w, now i tested it on pioneer and Apex and it didnt work... soo anyone have any ideas?

  2. Was this the new RecordNowMax 4.5?

I had trouble with it. I found out that this was the problem:

Under burning mode, the only available options were "Track at Once, Closed" or "Not Closed." With my previous version I bought at the store (4.0), the only DVD option was Disc at Once-Closed, and was grayed out and not changeable. All discs I have burned with 4.0 work perfectly.

That one disc I burned with 4.5 was only readable in a computer, not a standalone player.

I uninstalled 4.5 and went back to 4.0... nothing but perfect discs ever since.

  3. I am using version 4.5 and not had a problem. I always choose the track at once "closed" option. Try version 4.5 and select track at once "closed" from the edit menu and report your results.

  4. Actually, that was what I used that one time, "Track at Once: Closed."

Maybe my DVD players only like discs burned with 4.0.

  5. @Tenacious, that may be, but V.4.10 doesn't recognize my Sony Dru500a, while 4.5 does. This thread is far from a "problem". It seems like certain settings need to be checked, depending on the problem. I am still waiting to see someone who has succesfully used RNM to make a backup and had some type of playback issues, or ANY of the other issues reported by several people with Nero.

I have been using RNMax 4.5 with no playback problems on my Pioneer DV-353 standalone. Funny, It wouldn't play anything burnt with Nero. I'm using a Sony DRU500A.

What? You COULDN'T get your DVD to play in your standalone burning with Nero...that's ODD. ....NOT!!! Too bad, I was actually hoping that your post would be related to a playback issue of some sort which you could honestly say was caused by RecordNowMax. Oh well, I guess I will see it someday. I've dumped INFERO a good week ago or so and have been smooth burning since.

  8. I've tried record max with my burner (sony 500a) but I keep getting an error.
It says job terminated with errors when trying to burn verbatim DLP +r disks and the same for the sony dvd+rw disk that came with the burner.
It errors out before any writing begins. I have firmware 1.0f And have burned with nero successfully.

  9. @ Kin, if it errors out before you begin, that is a PLUS because you don't get a COASTER. The ONLY time I have seen that is when you use IFOEdit and you don't get 'VTS SECTORS' If you use NERO, INFERO will burn your disk and you will NOT be able to play it in your standalone. But RNM allows you to save your DVD blanks and gives you the error before burning. Get VTS Sectors on the main movie .IFO file and come back and report your results.

  10. Ok I'm officially a RecordNow Max Guy now. I did what you said and my dvd+r's play in every set top player I've tried. I guess it's bye bye to nero.

    Thanks for the help,

  11. @Kin52, thanks for reporting your results. I figured that it was a simple problem NOT related to RNM. At any rate, I have lost too much money and time with Infero and I am glad other people have been saved from losing their hard earned money and time with Infero.

defense, I've seen many of your post and I'm thankful for all your help. I have one big problem with RNM. I've downloaded it inDemo mode and can get it to do anything. I can't find any information in the help menu about DVD, nothing. I also can't find any button, or control or selection that even mentions DVD. The controls are Copy, Image, Data, Music, VideoCD, etc. Copy wants to use my CD drive for input. Image wants me to load a Golbal Image file or .iso.

If I open the options menu under tools, it gets an error in Mycd?? and crashes the program. On there web site they talk about support for DVD+RW but I can't find anything that will tell someone how to use it.

    What am I missing.

    support for 4X DVD-R and +R".

(maybe the demo isn't full support)

The Demo is supposed to have full support for everything except for something called "DNA".,.., or something like that. It stands for drive Name access, with allows you to put a data DVD in your drive and select i like it was a floppy, and save directly to it. I'm not concerned about that right now, but would be in the furture.

My main problem is trying to understand how it works and how you can do anything with it on a DVD. Every button on the menu has to do with CD's, nothing about a DVD. I know that a guy called "Defense" has been
boasting all over the place how terrible Nero is andhow great RNM is, but I've sent him a note and he has yet to respond. Maybe it's because he hasn't seen the note yet. I hope it's not because he won't respond to "Dumb" question,... like, how do you make it work. My view is that RNM is software that was meant for CD's, and somehow? added some function that (via magic) can do things to DVD's,... of course this is a secret so please don't tell anyone. If RNM is so great, why aren't a lot more people using it? Why aren't there a few "Guides" that show you how to use it. Why aren't they posted all over the other web sites.?????
I still have an open mind but need some evidence that it I can use.

  15. A 30 page manual is at

    http://www.stompinc.com/recordnowmax/index.phtml?stp

The wizard (as described in the manual) describes how to use "Make a Data Disc" (third option on the menu). You drag and drop your files (i.e., you're VIDEO_TS folder) that you want to burn on the DVD and hit next. It burns, and your done. It couldn't be simpler.

A 107 page manual is available with the full version.

  17. Ok this is a stupid question. Whats the difference between the Recordnow, Recordnow DX, Recordnow Max. I have all of them except the max. Can I still burn a succesful DVD movie?

RMA 155,... Thanks for your note. I'll get the manual. I can't believe that believe this software (RNM) has to disguise Video DVD as data just to record it. This is so illogical. How does it ever get in the correct format if you just drop it over as "Data". I believe you,... I just don't believe the people that create this thing it can be sold when the human interface is not very clear. I also want to make Data on 4.7 Gb disk, and I guess this is the same process?

Can wait to read these 30 pages, or maybe I need the 107 page version. Lets see, that will only take about an hour to download in PDF file.

Let me ask you this,... RNM has a help file with the software, and it has a contents, and index, and a search function, yet nowhere in any of these function can you find anything about writing a DVD. I did a search on DVD and only found out the "It is a disk that contains video" Why couldn't they just put some part of their 30 pages into this help file????

  19. I have never seen RecordNow Max on PC, but I was in store today and if my brain remebers correctly, I saw picture on the back of RecordNow Max box and there was Video-DVD icon.

  20. I m using a Sony DRU500-a firmware 1f and record NowMax which was delevered with it and never had a single problem, I didn't even went in the settings. I open it, chose DATA, put my VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder, change my DVD name burned and watched

Just one piece of advice if you have problems with ur burner: DO NOT INSTALL the DLA application, it locks your burner for himself and you will run it to lots of trouble when u use another program.

I have RecordNow DX version 4.56. It's a free update to the version that comes bundled with the Sony drives (the build number has SNY at the end). I believe it is the same as the RecordNow Max 4.5 that is commercially available at stompinc.com and in stores (office depot, etc.).

  22. @Bstansbury, RNM isn't disguising anything, that is just how you set up the movie to burn. From what I understand, DVD is technically data anyway. It is very simple to burn the movie. Just create an EMPTY AUDIO_TS folder, then a VIDEO_TS folder in all "caps." Add your movie files to the VIDEO_TS folder, add them both into RNM. I have never read about what functions you should select. But before you burn, go to the edit menu and go to where it says DVD and select Track AT Once CLOSED. That's what I do and then just hit burn and you should be set. If you have any doubts, use a RW first and then once you get the hang of it, use your R's. I hope this helps you.

@Donpedro, I remember when I first starting reading about RNM, that DVD VIDEO Icon will ONLY be there if you have one of two types of DVD Authoring software. I don't remember the name of either, because I wouldn't use them anyway, and could care less about the icon. If you have either of the two authoring programs I am referring to then RNM should recognize them and the icon will be there. As far as i'm concerned, it's basically one step vs. two, and a differece of a millionth of a second, so who cares about that icon. If someone does, then get one of the programs and it will be there. Otherwise, just hit the data tab.

That is not RecordNow Max. It is RecordNow DX. And I have no idea what whould be difference but when name is different then I am assuming that there is some. Otherwise why to call it DX instead of Max.

Defense,... Thanks for the info. I will set it up that way and try it. Thanks to DonPedro, who has been very helpful, I was able to get Nero working again.

My next task will be to convert my system over to Win XP. I expect that will really be a trial. I have so much stuff on my system, I've been on Win ME since the day it came out. It has only really caused me problems when I got started in Video Capture and DVD ripping. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do with all the data and software I have on 120 GB's of hard disk, such that I can re-format them into NTFS file system.

Question for anyone that is expert in XP.. Can I load the system in FAT and then ask it to convert the disk to NTFS on the fly,... or do I have to wipe the disk, reformat into NTFS.

  28. I know that this might sound stupid, but why don't you just buy new disk . At least that was how I solved same dilema

And just recomendation... I would start with multi-boot system and have one for testing (installing all the different sofware that messing up PC) and one for "real" work when you need to be sure that it will work.

  29. mickeymouse - for updates to what came on the Sony disk, in RecordNow under the help menu, click "check for new updates" (i think it directs you to a site in Japan with updates)

  30. Bstansbury, you don't need to format the drive to convert it to ntfs. You can Install the XP and have it convert your existing hard drive to NTFS. I always recommend atleast backing up vital stuff that you can't afford to lose. After all technology is not perfect. While I have converted many systems to NTFS without problems, you just never know.
