Have you heard about the new Modification chip for the XBOX that allows the XBOX to play backup games, free region DVDs, and probably most impressively DivX, XVID, SVCD, VCD and MP3s files. It has been made possible because of the XBOX's PC like architechture. I dont know about you lot but as soon as those chips are hitting my shores im getting me an XBOX and watching some nice quality DivX movies on my 32" Widescreen TV. End of fidling around with TV - OUT cables from my PC etc etc etc... Please give your thoughts on this matter and if any people know more about these Mod chips please reply to this post...

  2. If you're a gamer, it can be an option. However, if it's only to play DivX (well, mainly) there are other options... I'm making "sort of" a HTPC... Cheaper than a XBOX and better imho. Unless you want to play XBOX games, my project doesn't cover that Anyways, just me

Edit: Oops. forgot to give link... http://divx.reallybites.com Hope that helps.

It is not the chip that does it. Your Xbox has to be chiped inorder to run the program. It is a really nice media player. It does music pictures and video files. Plays VCD, SVCD, DIVX, XVID, WMV, you name it it plays. I will not debate that u can build a cheap player to just play those things but when all u have to do is spend 229 for the chip and XBOX that is a really good deal. I do not know if I can give u the link but it is out and works great. Hope this helps u.
