  1. I wanted to download the XVCD NTSC sample off of this site, but it's currently down. Does anyone have it? If so, can you email it to me or let me download it? Thanks...

  2. BTW: I plan to test the XVCD sample on my new Sony DVP-PQ1
    Walmart catalog link

I just purchased it from WalMart for $108. It's a great little player and is easy to move from room to room or hook up to my capture equipment. Anyone have this one or an opinion or wisdom about it?

  4. You could always just make a few XVCD MPEG-1 clips and create your own "XVCD" test disc to take with you...

Alternatively, the Official VCDHelp.com PAL/NTSC Demo Video-CD contains a number of XVCD test clips.

Before I purchase this DVD player I would like to know if it plays XSVCD disks.

The Player database says that this player does XVCD.

  6. Make your own (with the method you are likely to use) and try it out!

Well, I did buy this player at Walmarts and love it. It reads all my VCD's and isn't picky about brands or burn rate. They all look great.

I can't get SVCD to work but I haven't tried the "VCD header trick" yet. A major bonus is that DVD+RW/+R's work on it. This is a major plus!

As for XVCD, I haven't burned a test disk, but I did burn a 2 hour movie on on CD-R using 760kbps Video and 128kbps Audio. It looked pretty good, except for the sound being off a little (most people wouldn't notice).

I will try to make a demo XVCD disk to test it on, but that will have to wait until I try a bunch of other things first. I want to try DVD-VCD but don't know how to do this yet.
