  1. two different questions, so the one i'll post here, the other one in 'players'...

got an avi file that plays back with wrong colours, appearently spread over four quadrants, funny thing is: it played well before... it might have been a windows update that killed *something* but haven't got a clue... might be a codec issue as well...

funniest thing: it plays well in virtual dub, but not under the media player or for example cinemascope

yet i need to convert this file, to edit it, and (you guessed it) currently the editor messes up as well... is there an easy fix beyound re-coding?

Do you have SMR (Angel portion) installed ? if so get rid of it.

Try streaming another copy out of Vdub, see if it helps.

  3. ok, solved the issue, appearently, something microsoft did... when updating windows 98 (and NOT installing a new mediaplayer or browser, just windows itself) it managed to mess up some files...

removing the codecs (base codec pack and ffdshow) and reinstalling them helped, but some other programs started to complain... so finally i replaced the winapi32.dll with one provided by ahead (nero) and voila, everything ok again, thanks microsoft... sigh...
