  1. I can't find any program that will edit the MPEG2 files generated by this card (which won't produce a file larger than 2GB, despite an alleged registry hack on the Hauppauge site). I have tried every MPEG editor available with exactly the same results - either the file is not recognized as valid, or there are audiosync problems.

So, is there any program that will recognize this USB device so that I can capture to AVI, edit, then encode to mpeg2? I have tried:

    Pinnacle Studio
    Premiere 6.5
    Videowave 5

    Thanks!

  2. hi
there is one, Nero - but does an all in one burn from almost anything to the mpeg required for VCD. so there's no intermediate avi, if that's what you're after

A bit late but maybe still useful:

I use a card (not USB) and mine may be a little later than yours.
You can set cap size to somewhere around 4.444G (I can, anyway)
Womble MPEG-VCR 3.14 does an excellent job cutting and joining and does read the Hauppauge version of MPEG. Having standardized the MPEG, you can use a MPEG-AVI converter.

I wish there was a half decent program for the Nova-T though. The Hauppauge software is REALLY bad.

Maybe the files can be fixed with PVAStrumento?

  6. I had the card too (rather than the USB), and I can certainly agree with one thing:

I found it produced completely non-compliant MPEG streams, and even worse it kept dropping the audio during capture every time the stream changed a little (i.e. during advert breaks etc..) and never recovering it again.

It wasn't even very good for watching tele, let alone capturing.

But... then we got burgled; so it's someone else's problem now

I never found anything that could capture from the card except the bundled software.

I don't know if the USB Nova-T is the same, but the PCI card I had was installed in the device manager as a network interface - which meant it had problems with firewalls etc.. too.

Maybe this is one of the reasons absolutely nothing else could use it as a capture source.

    Sorry - not much help!

    cheers,
    mcdruid.
